Is FitCoach AI free?

Yes. FitCoach AI offers a free tier with workout plans, step tracking and basic calorie logging. An optional premium tier adds unlimited AI food recognition, camera form analysis and weekly AI summaries.

How does AI camera form analysis work?

When you open the camera, Google ML Kit Pose Detection tracks 33 body landmarks in real time. Squat depth, knee tracking and back angle are analysed; incorrect form is flagged via voice or on-screen prompt. All processing happens on your device — no video is recorded or uploaded.

Is photo-based calorie counting accurate?

We combine the Open Food Facts database (800,000+ products) with Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash vision model. Typical accuracy is 80-90% for common dishes. You can manually correct any item — the app learns from your corrections.

Is my data safe?

Camera frames never leave your device. Profile data is stored encrypted on Google Firebase. We are GDPR compliant and you can permanently delete your account from inside the app with one tap. See Privacy Policy.

Which devices are supported?

Android 8.0+ and iOS 13.0+ on any modern smartphone. Wear OS and Apple Watch support is on the near-term roadmap.

Do I need an internet connection?

Workouts, step tracking, form analysis and basic calorie logging work offline. AI food recognition and weekly AI summaries require an internet connection. Once your plan is generated, day-to-day usage works without a network.

Vegan or vegetarian — does the nutrition plan adapt?

Yes. Pick vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, gluten-free or lactose-free in your profile. Plant-based protein sources (lentils, chickpeas, tofu, quinoa) are prioritised, and animal-based suggestions are filtered out.

I have a slow metabolism. Can I still lose weight?

Our BMI-aware calorie deficit logic was built for this. It scales the deficit by your BMI (12% under 25, 18% for 25-30, 22% over 30) and enforces a dynamic floor at BMR × 1.10 to prevent unsafe restriction.
